FAQ: How To Check Dataset Coordinate System Before Uploading into DataHub (PPF Processing)

Checking Dataset Coordinate System

Before uploading any PPF into DataHub for processing, it is important to make sure that all files are in the same coordinate system. A mismatch in the dataset coordinate system and the desired coordinate system will result in a processing failure.

The most convenient way to do this is to load your files into GIS software and check their metadata. In this example, we will be using QGIS to check the coordinate system of a TIF and LAS file.

  1. Open QGIS.
  2. Drag & drop your file into the QGIS dashboard.
  3. Right-click the file > select Properties
  4. Select Source and you will see the assigned coordinate system for the file.
