Importing KML Files for Flight Reference

The user may choose to import a KML file to serve as a reference for the flight mission. In this method, SkyFlight automatically suggests a flight mission that covers all of the areas enclosed by the KML File polygon.

Supported KML Files

Currently, SkyFlight supports KML Files generated by Google Earth or GlobalMapper. Save the KML files to the SD card or Flash drive that will be inserted to the remote control. You may reach out to our support team if you have a KML file that seems to be incompatible with the app.

File Import Steps

This feature works with the Flight Mission workflow. You need to click on the Create mission button and then select high-precision survey.

After this, instead of skipping the file imports, select the Import KML file button

SkyFlight will open and access your device's folder tree. Select the folder where the KML file is located, then click on the KML file to import. Click Next.

Automatic Flight Planning

The imported KML file polygon automatically shapes the flight mission based on its boundaries. You may review the flight details in the viewport once the KML is imported.

Note: Ensure that the "Enable KML Overlay" Slider is toggled off for automatic mission planning

Manual Flight Adjustments

If you want to edit the flight plan manually, you may adjust the corner nodes based on your preference.

Enabling KML Overlay

Toggling the KML Overlay slider on will make the viewport will display the KML shape. Tapping the screen will allow users to create a mapping area. In this view, users can click, drag, and, adjust the Flight Plan as required.

Click on the corner nodes to move and modify the flight plan shape.

Note: The pilot is responsible for ensuring that the flight plan is safe and doable considering the environment and current state of the drone.
