Exporting SkyFlight Basemaps From DataHub

DataHub can now generate Custom Basemaps fully compatible with SkyFlight. You can think of it as a specialized orthophoto base map designed to work with SkyFlight. This article explains how you can access them.

Accessing Custom Basemaps Generated by DataHub

Each dataset uploaded and processed through DataHub automatically generates corresponding basemap files as part of its deliverables. These files can be accessed via the File Manager or through the Direct Download shortcut.

If, for instance, only a custom basemap is needed, and you have an orthophoto. Simply upload the file into DataHub via the PPF workflow. Follow the steps below:

Uploading a Standalone Orthophoto (.tiff or .tif)

Important:

Ensure your Orthophoto is georeferenced before starting.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your DataHub account.
  2. Navigate to the Site within your DataHub organization that corresponds to the location of your Orthophoto.
  3. Upload your Orthophoto using the Pre-Processed File (PPF) Workflow.
    • Be sure to input the correct Coordinate Reference System (CRS) for the Orthophoto.
  4. Click Start Upload and keep your browser open until the upload is complete.
  5. Wait for the Orthophoto to process. You will receive a confirmation email once processing is complete.
  6. Once the processing is finished, go to the dataset in DataHub and follow the instructions outlined in the "From an Existing Processed Job in DataHub" section below.

Using an Existing Processed Job in DataHub

(This applies if you uploaded your RAW data to DataHub and it has been fully processed or if you already have the orthophoto already processed via PPF in DataHub)

Steps:

  1. Open the Dataset in DataHub where you want to generate the custom base map.
  2. In the bottom-right corner, click the Download button.
  3. From the options, select SkyFlight Files and then choose Custom Basemap
  4. Alternatively, you can find the .skybasemap file in the File Manager within DatHub.
  5. Once downloaded, the .skybasemap file will be saved to your PC.

This file can then be imported into your RC to be used as a custom base map in SkyFlight.
