What are RINEX (local observation logs) and why do I need them?
RINEX logs, also known as local observations, are generated by survey equipment, such as the Trimble R10 or Topcon HiperV. These files, when combined with the RTK files from EVO3x, will create a highly accurate geoposition for each photo taken by the drone.
If the EVO3x is being flown outside of an RTK network or you do not have an NTRIP account, you will need to use a RINEX or Local Observation file in order for the EVO3x to create precision accuracy data.
We recommend placing your local base as close to your flight area as possible as the closer the base is, the more accurate your data will be. The maximum recommended area however is 10km from the flight area.
Where can I get my RINEX (local observation) files?
Consult your survey equipment's manual on how to create observations and where to download them. Skycatch currently accepts observations in .obs, .17o, or .18o file formats
Please note: We recommend "warming up" your local base for a minimum of 30 minutes before flying to establish a good RTK fix. Flying before this time may result in less accurate data due to a lack of fix in your local observations.
