Printable Skycatch Control Points (GCPs or Checkpoints)

Using Skycatch control points (for both ground control points and checkpoints) will help increase the accuracy and turnaround time of your processed datasets. Our custom Skycatch control points have varying designs of encoded IDs that are automatically recognized by our automated processing pipeline.

Note: There are two types of control points: ground control points and checkpoints. Checkpoints are currently only used for verification purposes if the user reports an issue with the accuracy of their dataset, so you will not automatically receive an accuracy report if you choose to upload control points with a dataset.

There are two different sizes available for you to print. We recommend using the larger sized ground control points when flying at higher altitudes (above 40m) to ensure that the markers are properly detected.

The ground control points are available in PDF, PNG, and PSD formats.

  • Designs for the large sized (46"x46") GCPs can be found here.
These are recommended when flying higher than 40 meters above ground level (AGL).
  • Designs for the small sized (24"x24") GCPs can be found here.
These are recommended when flying 40 meters AGL, and below.
Printing Details
Skycatch uses a printing service to print ground control points on 13oz vinyl with 8 grommets per tag to ensure that they can be securely placed. Grommets are optional, however there are green dots marking the grommet locations around the edge of the tag if you choose to have them made with grommets.
We recommend using the above specifications to have GCPs printed with a printing service or your choice.
